Today over at Leggo My Ego I published my profile of Richard Quest, who has been added to Guava's InfoHunk pantheon. You can read what I shared:

Richard Quest
To see this InfoHunk in action is to love him. The bespectacled Englishman anchors CNN International's daily business show, Business Central, and co-anchors "Biz" a rollicking three hour morning show.

Richard is not classically handsome; he has big buckteeth and an intense stare*. He looks like the love
child of The Who's Roger Daltry and British comedian Terry Thomas whose style Mike Meyers imitates under his
Austin Powers persona), but he's very quirky and has a very distinctive delivery. He's also prone to make zany pronouncements about his co-anchors (usually beautiful women) and his non-existent personal life.

Here's an example: On 4/9/02 he stated, "I have a cellphone that never rings because nobody likes me."

Richard is all about motion. He shouts out the news with a braying enthusiasm. He tends to point his fingers or spread his hand along the anchor desk like it's a keyboard while interviewing guests. He brings dull subjects like economics and finance to life with his inimitable style. You can listen to him speak
about the 1999 Seattle WTC conference and riot here.

Based in London, Richard Quest is a complex man. He has a law degree from Leeds University and was called to the bar. We don't know how long he practiced but he joined BBC news as a trainee in 1985. He moved to the BBC financial section in 1987 where he covered the stock market crash. He later became a news correspondent and became BBC's North America business correspondent in 1989.

CNN lured him to anchor their business coverage in 2001. Richard Quest is an international man of mystery. We don't know much about his personal life, other than that he loves colorful ties. If you'd like to learn more about the man and his quips, check out a blog recording his more insane declarations at Quest Quips.

*(Publisher's note: Some [ok, maybe just me] might sense in the intensity of his stare that optic phenomena better known as "bedroom eyes.")
