blog devoted to CNN International Business anchor, Richard Quest, who looks like a cross between Roger Daltry and a Muppet. You have to see him to believe him...

An Oldie But a Goodie
Let's go back in time: to 31/12/02 and consider this exchange between Tony and Richard on Business International.
After updating the European markets:
Tony: Interestingly Richard, just before you go, uh, before I go I suppose I should say, you said 24 time zones 'round the world. I think there's 25.
Richard: All right, uh, you think there's 25 time zones around the world.
Tony: I think so. New Zealand daylight savings. I think that means they're on a different latitude at the same longitude. They're an hour, twenty-five hours behind. I think it works like that. I've just been thinking about it now. Maybe someone who lives in the Pacific will tell us.
Richard: You really have got too much time on your hands today, Tony. (Tony chuckles) Listen, before we talk about that, we will look, check into that.
After Tony's last market update:
Richard: And also, we should say thank you for nothing, for starting the debate over how many time zones there are in the world.
Tony: (chuckles) Yeah, what are we at, number 38, I think it was?
Richard: Yeah, 37 or 38. And we haven't included those with half an hour, bits and...
Tony: Yeah, I think 38th one is the Chatham Islands is it or something...?
Richard: Oh don't start, no, no, no, no, don't start that Tony.
Tony: Hmmmm, email@example.com.
Tony: I said firstname.lastname@example.org. I'm sure you'll want to hear what everyone has to say about this.
Richard: ...is where you can send generous presents and share kind thoughts and that sort of thing.
